Retigo Vision Descaler X 25 100g Sachets

£38.00

You may not need this. We know that’s a funny thing to say on a product page, but it’s true. If your Retigo combi oven has a water softener fitted from the start — which it should in hard water areas.

We fit water softeners to every Retigo we supply as standard. They add about £600 to a £6,000–£7,000 oven, and that’s money well spent. Because when limescale does get into a combi oven, it causes problems. Checked? OK, if you don’t have one fitted, then get some of these sharpish! Along with the Active Cleaner.

For the daily cleaning cycle, use Retigo Active Cleaner. Browse all Retigo combi ovens.

• 25 sachets per tub
• Same simple process as the regular cleaning cycle
• Cleans the cooking chamber — pipework needs an engineer
• A water softener (circa £600) prevents the need for descaling entirely

What Does Limescale Do?

It gets everywhere. The inlet solenoid, the piping, the tubes, the manifolds — everything the water touches starts to clog up. Components age faster than they should. The inside of the oven turns white. Grease sticks to the limescale and makes everything ten times harder to clean.

Don’t get caught out… the descaler only cleans the cooking chamber. It can’t reach the inlet solenoid or the pipework where the water comes in from the mains. If limescale’s built up in those parts, you need an engineer to come out and strip it all down. That’s typically £200 to £350 just for the solenoid and pipework — and if parts need replacing, it’s more.

No Water Softener? No Warranty Cover

We’re upfront about this with every customer. If you choose not to have a water softener fitted and limescale causes damage down the line, it’s not covered under Retigo’s three-year warranty. We’ll happily come out and sort it for you, but it’ll be chargeable. And we’ll be recommending you get a softener fitted at the same time so it doesn’t happen again.
If a fitted water softener fails and causes limescale issues, that’s a different story — we’d look at that under the softener’s warranty and do our best to sort it at no extra cost.

When You Do Need It

If you’ve inherited a Retigo without a water softener, or your softener’s packed in and limescale’s built up in the cooking chamber, Vision Descaler does the job. The process is exactly the same as a normal clean — select the descale program, add the powder when it tells you, shut the door. Your staff can do it, no engineer needed for the chamber itself.
But we’d always say: get a water softener fitted and you won’t need this product again.

Do we need to descale our Retigo?

If you’ve got a water softener fitted correctly — which you should, especially in a hard water area like the Midlands — then no, you shouldn’t need to. Descaling means something’s not right with your water treatment. We supply all our Retigos with water softeners as standard for exactly this reason.

How much does limescale damage cost to fix?

An engineer call-out to clear blocked solenoids and pipework is typically £200 to £350. If parts need replacing, it’s more. Compare that to £600 for a water softener fitted from day one. The maths is pretty obvious.

Is limescale damage covered under warranty?

Not if you don’t have a water softener fitted. We’re upfront about this with everyone — Retigo’s three-year warranty doesn’t cover limescale damage without proper water treatment. If your fitted softener fails and causes a problem, we’d look at that differently and do our best to sort it without charging you.

Can our kitchen staff do the descaling themselves?

For the cooking chamber, yes. It’s the same process as a normal clean — select the descale program, add the powder when it tells you, shut the door. But if limescale’s got into the pipework and solenoids, you’ll need us to come out and sort that. The descaler can’t reach those parts.
